The African Descent Caucus of DRUUMM

Article I. Name

The name of this organization shall be “The African Descent Caucus of DRUUMM” referred to as “The ADC.”

Article II. Officers, Committees and Elections

The Officers will be: a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and communications coordinator.

The officers shall serve for 1 year and are eligible for re elections.

The caucus Steering Committee shall consist of, the officers and 3 other members elected at the annual meeting.

Duties of Officers:

Chair: Conduct all meetings, prepare the agenda, and coordinate activities with DRUUM and other Caucuses and departments of the UUA.

Vice Chair: Serve in the absence of the Chair and serve as coordinator of programs.

Secretary: Take minutes of the meetings and forward them to the communication coordinator for distribution. Collect membership data and receive all correspondence and respond appropriately after consultation with members of the steering committee.

Treasurer: Receive record and maintain custody of all funds and report to the steering committee and the caucus at the annual meeting.

Communications Coordinator: Distribute minutes, publish the caucus newsletter and maintain the web page.

Article III. Membership

Membership in the ADC Caucus is open to all individuals who identify themselves as having African ancestry or black.  

All members of the caucus must be active members of DRUUMM,

 Contribute and participate in Caucus activities.

 Participate in the election of officers.

 Pay membership dues

 Vote, run for office and

 Participate in caucus sponsored projects.

 The ADC caucus may join with other DRUUMM caucuses, A.R.E., and other UUA groups in discussions and ministries as determined by the caucus’s officers and members.

Article IV. Meetings

Members will meet at least three times a year:

1. Summer, at the General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association,

2. Fall, at the Annual Meeting of DRUUMM, and

3. Spring, at the ADC Caucus annual Meeting.

Article V. Fiscal Year

The ADC Caucus fiscal year shall correspond with the UUA calendar, which begins July 1.

Article VI. Rules and Procedures

The rules of procedure followed at all meetings shall be covenantal.

These By-Laws may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote at the general meeting of the members at the Annual ADC conference.

A quorum shall consist of 9 members.
